The Manager, Sales is responsible for leadership, profitability, growth, and direction of all sales activities within their assigned market. The Manager, Sales provides proactive leadership to the sales team members to achieve maximum profitability and productivity in line with the Company’s Vision, Mission, and Values, strategic direction, and annual objectives. The position reports directly to the Vice President, Sales.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Manages the sales team and all sales activities within the company by creating an environment of success while building and motivating a strong team;
Develops sales goals, margins, and objectives in alignment with Corporate goals and holds individual team members accountable for achievement;
Collaboratively sets activity key performance indicators (KPIs) and reports on progress towards Sales’ KPIs;
Provides training, mentoring and support for Sales Consultants via ride-alongs, team meetings, and one-on-one’s;
Establishes and maintains client relationships, in conjunction with Sales Consultants;
Develops and strengthens a strong working relationship with Manager, Business Development to achieve sales and business targets and objectives;
Leads sales meetings and presentations;
Evaluates and maintains customer pricing and profitability targets;
Initiates and coordinates development of action plans to penetrate new markets;
Assists with “chasing leads” and following-up on possible opportunities to generate sales;
Assists in preparation of bids and presentations;
Monitors that all sales documentation and administrative processes is completed accurately and thoroughly to facilitate expedient installation and completion of orders to client satisfaction;
Manages direct selling expenses;
Monitors and conducts evaluations of team members’ performance and addresses any concerns or issues in a timely and respectful manner while focusing on consistency, accountability, and responsibility. Provides ongoing feedback to all direct reports based on observable behaviours;
Recruits and on-boards new members of the sales team;
Liaises with other departments within the company to streamline and efficiently clarify and resolve issues and processes;
Develops and strengthens working relationships with key vendor representatives, the A&D community, and the GC community;
Identifies and recommends continuous improvement in all aspects of sales to achieve improvements in customer service and satisfaction, project success, process reliability, safety, cost improvement, and culture support;
Provides backup support to the Vice-President of Sales;
Completes other duties as assigned/as required.
As the successful candidate for this position, you will bring your:
Relevant Bachelor’s Degree (essential);
7 – 10 years of progressive sales experience is required;
2 – 4 years’ proven track record of successfully leading and coaching a sales team is required;
Relevant industry experience and knowledge of the company’s market is an asset;
Demonstrated superior leadership and people skills with a proactive, consultative and participatory leadership style;
Effective business acumen with strategic focus and results-oriented problem-solving and decision-making skills along with solid financial and analytical skills;
Strong customer service attitude and commitment to providing exceptional customer service and quality results with ability to interface at the most senior levels of a client organization;
Highly motivated with a drive to succeed and a passion for sales while setting and holding oneself and others to high standards of ethics and accountability;
Ability to set targets and design growth plans;
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a sales team with multiple projects and initiatives in a complex and fast paced environment;
Strong verbal and written communication skills to facilitate and promote open discussions and understanding;
Excellent negotiation, persuasion, presentation, and listening skills to facilitate successful sales discussions as well as resolution of employee and management concerns and requests;
Excellent attention to detail with ability to self-audit, along with excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet multiple deadlines;
Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as independently with minimal supervision;
Demonstrated proactive, positive “Yes We Can” attitude;
Demonstrated positive approach to continuous improvement opportunities and activities;
Strong computer-based abilities, especially Microsoft Office suite and sales management software;
Ability to work outside of regular business hours to meet client and organizational requirements;
Ability and willingness to travel out of city up to 15 percent of the time;
Ability to maintain confidentiality to comply with all regulatory requirements and Company Privacy and Confidentiality policies and procedures.
