Job Overview

Required Qualifications & Experience:

2-3 years of related experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management
Post-secondary education in Occupational Safety is an asset.
Knowledge of WorkSafe BC health & safety legislation and regulations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

HR Responsibilities


Employee on-boarding and exit processes

Coordinate and conduct orientation, education and training.

Scheduling of employees for production

Administering payroll and employee benefit programs

Provide information on policies, guidelines and practices

Maintaining both paper and electronic employee files

Supporting the annual performance management and compensation review process

Drafting correspondences and action forms

Assisting with preparation of reports and presentations

Providing support on various HR projects


Safety Responsibilities:

Provide advice and guidance to all levels of management in OH&S matters and staff support to achieve a safe and healthy workplace

Develop policies, procedures and safety management systems to ensure regulatory compliance and implement best practices for prevention.

Develop and implement safety systems and risk management plans that address hazards in the workplace.

Coordinate education and training for all employees in OH&S systems, legislative and regulatory requirements and safe working practices.

Perform accident/incident investigations.

WCB claims management, investigations and return to work programs.

WHMIS 2015 training to all levels of staff and MSDS administration.

Lead the Health & Safety Committee; conduct workplace inspections, record meetings minutes, resolve issues in a timely and effective manner.

Coordinate and issue PPE to all employees including FIT testing and annual hearing testing.

Ensure that all employees receive orientation and training in safety policies, safe work procedures and work practices in their assigned areas and throughout the factory and yard.

Maintenance of records and statistics to evaluate use and condition of equipment and structures, instruction and training of workers and the development of strategies for the prevention of injuries and disease.


Required Qualifications & Experience:

2-3 years of related experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management

Post-secondary education in Occupational Safety is an asset.

Knowledge of WorkSafe BC health & safety legislation and regulations.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Familiarity with BC Employment Standards and Human Rights Code

Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail

A high level of integrity and confidentiality

Experience facilitating training sessions on various OH&S topics is an asset

Proficient with MS Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel.

First Aid Level 2 Certification a must, or willing to acquire it

Experience working with a large group of diverse employees is preferred

Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadline
